Position Overview:
Well established primary and specialty care private practice looking to hire a part time  optometrist to join our family in providing exceptional care to central Massachusetts. Our schedule is a mix of 20 and 30 minute comprehensive exams as well as specialty care and medical exams. We have a dedicated office manager as well as support staff to aid in pretesting and specialty testing.

About the Practice:
Our family practice has been consistently providing care for over 100 years and has been owned and operated by the Thamel family for over 60 years! Our doctors provide comprehensive primary eye care that includes a significant amount of ocular disease.
We also provide a number of subspecialties. Vision therapy has been part of the practice since the 60s with a protocol that incorporates classic therapies as well as emerging technology. We have been providing dry eye treatment and specialty contact lenses for the past 15 years and low vision services were added in 2022. Our practice has been a proud member of Vision Source for the past 20 years and we benefit from participating in many of the programs they have to offer. Vision Source is a community of like minded optometrists in private practice in Massachusetts and across the nation.

Responsibilities

Optician/Optical  job responsibilities include: 

  • Guide and assist patients in the eyewear and frame/lens selection process, by using extensive knowledge of product lines and options to educate patient
  • Frame adjustments, repairs and dispensing eye wear and contacts
  • Maintaining communication with patients ie. material orders, insurance benefits etc.
  • Provide patients with comprehensive explanation of their insurance benefits such as VSP, Eyemed, and Spectera
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy office environment
  • Position may cross train with technician duties as well which includes working up the patient for the doctor
  • Optical will assist front desk in answering phones, processing patient payments, and making appointments
