Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and taking their ocular and medical histories.
  • Auto refraction, visual fields, lensometry, and tonometry
  • Preliminary case history including current medical conditions
  • Visual acuities, color vision, stereo, and drop instillation
  • Special testing –Oculus, Dark Adaptation, Optomap and OCT scans
  • Conducts routine equipment testing for instruments listed above
  • Responsible for processing patients’ information through the EMR system
  • Helps maintain the flow of patients into and out of the examination room areas promptly
  • Conducts inventory of supplies and stock examination rooms
  • Verifies and maintains stock levels and recommends disposal for all expired supply items
  • Diligently maintains the cleanliness of all the equipment, dispensary, workstations, and overall facility
  • Ordering and dispensing contact lenses
  • Instructing contact lens patients in proper insertion and removal techniques, as well as contact lens care.
  • Cleaning exam rooms and various other duties that keep the clinic running smoothly.
  • Working closely with the Optometrist to facilitate optimal patient care
  • Working Saturdays required
  • Working closely with other members of the team in coordinating patient care

Well established primary and specialty care private practice looking to hire a full time optometrist to join our family in providing exceptional care to central Massachusetts. Our schedule is a mix of 20 and 30 minute comprehensive exams as well as specialty care and medical exams. We have a dedicated office manager as well as support staff to aid in pretesting and specialty testing.

About the Practice:
Our family practice has been consistently providing care for over 100 years and has been owned and operated by the Thamel family for over 60 years! Our doctors provide comprehensive primary eye care that includes a significant amount of ocular disease.
We also provide a number of subspecialties. Vision therapy has been part of the practice since the 60s with a protocol that incorporates classic therapies as well as emerging technology. We have been providing dry eye treatment and specialty contact lenses for the past 15 years and low vision services were added in 2022. Our practice has been a proud member of Vision Source for the past 20 years and we benefit from participating in many of the programs they have to offer.
