Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Customer reception and service.
  • Maintain patient records, schedule appointments, collect payments.
  • Obtain Insurance information and authorization, facilitate insurance billing and collection.
  • Process and follow up on orders with laboratories.
  • Maintain Inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness and overall style of dispensary, including displays.
  • Identify patient’s eyewear needs and educate patient about eyewear options.
  • Properly fit, troubleshoot, and adjust eyewear.
  • Assist in the selection of fashionable eyewear.
  • Promote eyewear, contact lens, and eye product sales.
  • Participate in continuing education regarding products and sales.
  • Assist Manager with training of Opticians and Optical Dispensers.
  • Assist Manager with staff scheduling of Optical department.
  • Supervise safe and efficient operation of In Office Finishing.
  • Supervise and maintain optical sales and service.
  • Assist manager in maintaining Inventory levels, and procedure
  • Supervise dispensary appearance, cleanliness and displays.
  • Assist Manager in maintaining correct insurance fee schedules.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • General clerical and retail computer system skills.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Sales and Optical dispensing skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance benefits and claims submission.
  • ABO certification (preferred) but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by understanding and assisting patients’ needs.
  • Guide and assist patients in the eyewear and frame/lens selection process by using extensive knowledge of product lines and options to educate the client.
  • Maximize sales offerings and educate clients on lens options.
  • Use proper tools to take accurate measurements and fit/adjust eyewear for patient needs.
  • Promise accurate delivery & turnaround times meeting the patients’ needs. Immediately notify the patient of any delays in delivery times.
  • Stock eyeglass cases, cleaners, and contact lens station, and ensure frame boards are full as applicable.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years previous Optician experience preferred
  • Fashion savvy and enjoy helping people in a customer setting.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), including strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with sales and making transactions.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
