We are seeking a licensed Optometrist (OD) in Maryland to join our team. This position involves diagnosing and treating a full range of visual problems, prescribing corrective lenses, and managing ocular diseases. Responsibilities
As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for examining patients, diagnosing vision disorders, and prescribing treatment as per Maryland state laws. Your role includes conducting comprehensive eye exams, managing ocular conditions, and co-managing patient care with other healthcare providers. Additionally, you will play a key role in patient education and ensuring high-quality care standards within the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye exams using a full range of optometric instruments and techniques.
- Diagnose and treat ocular diseases and vision disorders, prescribing appropriate corrective lenses.
- Fit and prescribe contact lenses and low-vision aids for visually impaired patients.
- Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents for ocular pathology detection.
- Refer patients to specialists when necessary for further evaluation and treatment.
- Participate in departmental meetings, peer reviews, and educational programs.
- Work collaboratively with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology teams.
- Assist in implementing eye care training programs for staff and patient education seminars.
Skills & Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in optometry or successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid optometry license in Maryland, D.C., or Virginia and be in good standing.
- Certifications: National Provider Identification (NPI) and enrollment in PECOS required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 2 years in an interdisciplinary healthcare setting preferred.
- Additional Training: Completion of an accredited optometry residency program is a plus.
