They interpret prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologists, assist patients in choosing frames and lenses that suit their vision needs and lifestyle, and ensure proper fit and comfort through measurements and adjustments. Responsibilities

Greet patients and assist them in selecting eyeglass frames that fit their prescription, style preferences, face shape, and budget

Educate patients about lens options, coatings, and benefits tailored to their lifestyle and vision needs

Provide accurate information about insurance coverage, pricing, and promotional offerings

Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the eyewear purchasing and fitting process

Take precise facial and optical measurements (e.g., pupillary distance, segment height)

Fit, repair, and adjust glasses to ensure optimal comfort, alignment, and functionality
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and industry-specific standards for patient care and product handling
Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 1–2 years of prior experience in an optical setting (private practice, retail, or clinical)

Proficient in interpreting and applying optical prescriptions

Strong knowledge of lens types, coatings, materials, and frame adjustments

Familiarity with vision insurance plans (e.g., VSP, Eyemed, Spectera)

Skilled in performing accurate optical measurements (e.g., PD, seg height, frame fitting)

Ability to identify and troubleshoot eyewear issues, perform repairs and adjustments

Comfortable using optical equipment/software (lensometers, EHR, frame tracing systems, lab tools)
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy, patience, and professionalism
