Rochester Eye Care Associates is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to serve as a lead presence within our front desk operations. Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary front desk contact, setting the tone for a professional and welcoming patient experience
- Manage patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and phone inquiries with accuracy and efficiency
- Oversee and support front desk workflows to ensure smooth daily operations
- Handle administrative tasks including documentation, insurance verification, and billing support
- Utilize knowledge of medical and/or optical billing and coding to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Act as a lead resource within the front office, supporting consistency, organization, and best practices
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to ensure a seamless patient journey
Skills & Qualifications
- Coding Knowledge: Proficiency in CPT, ICD-10 codes, and understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
- Software Proficiency: Experience with electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems used in eye care
- Supervision :Responsible for ensuring that patient billing, insurance claims, and payments are processed accurately and efficiently. This role includes managing billing staff, staying up-to-date with insurance regulations, resolving billing issues, and ensuring compliance with healthcare laws. The Billing Manager also communicates with patients and insurance companies to address billing inquiries and discrepancies, helping to maintain the financial health of the practice.
- Experience: 2+ years of medical or vision billing experience, with prior background in a medical front-office or receptionist role
- Knowledge: Strong familiarity with vision insurance plans (VSP, EyeMed), medical insurance (Medicare, major medical), and EOBs (Explanation of Benefits).
- Communication: Handle incoming phone calls, answer billing or appointment inquiries, and confirm upcoming appointments
- Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, recall visits, and specialized eye exams
