This person is familiar with all frames carried by the practice and the various lens materials and options available. Responsibilities

OPTICAL OFFICE EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED – WILL TRAIN SOMEONE WITH PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Optometric Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Assists patients with frame and lens selections, coating options, repairs and adjustments
  • Educates patients on lens and frame options in relation to lifestyle needs, trains patients on care of eyewear
  • Provides benefits counseling
  • Assists with frame board management; enters frames into inventory, helps choose frame lines
  • Establishes value packages and special offerings
  • Develops vendor relationships and cooperative marketing and charitable efforts
  • Organizes trunk shows
  • Tracks key statistics: total eyewear sales, multiple pairs, dispensing ratios
  • Maintains the appearance of the dispensary, responsible for dispensing equipment and supply levels, organizes product literature
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

OPTICAL OFFICE EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED – WILL TRAIN SOMEONE WITH PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Optometric Technician required skills & qualifications include:

  • Must have computer skills and the ability to learn EMR system
  • Strong ability to multi-task with high degree of accuracy, attention to detail a must
  • Excellent customer service
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Superior verbal and written skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential
